National Coffee Day at Bayville NJ WAWA

 In Ocean Academy

By: Mrs. Gwen Specht /Instructional Paraprofessional

On Thursday, Ocean Academy participated in National Coffee Day.  Staff members took groups of students to the nearby Wawa to sample the different varieties of coffee and hot drinks.  On this day each year Wawa gives away a free 16 oz. cup of coffee.  There were many other customers taking advantage of the giveaway.  The Wawa employees were not only accommodating to our student groups but also pleased that Ocean Academy had come in for a visit.

It was a nice way for Ocean Academy to be seen in the community.  The trip was also good for more real life social skills practice. Students chose regular coffee, flavored coffees and some even opted for hot chocolate.  The students were exposed to different types of drinks.  The staff were enthusiastic about an afternoon caffeine infusion.  A heartfelt thanks goes out to Bayville Wawa and its accommodating employees.

National free coffee day at any participating Wawa was one of the best days at Ocean Academy. I for one adore coffee, and as it seems, so does Mr. Corbett. Our very own principal decided that it would be a fun idea to take the school, one grade at a time, to the Wawa down the street to get our share of the free coffee. Watching the Elementary students walking back from the trip with coffee in their hands and smiles on their faces was inspiring. I do love seeing the way this school can bring up new ideas to brighten our days. Here’s to OA and… FREE COFFEE!

It was such a fun day with the school to walk to Wawa! I enjoyed my hot coca very much and thought it was a great privilege to venture out in the community and get delicious treats! Thank you so much Mr. Corbett for letting us have this opportunity and the Bayville Wawa for letting us get free coffee!! I hope we can do that again!

That was some good coffee. I loved it and it was a pretty nice day… but it was cold. But thank goodness I had that coffee, or else I could’ve froze.
