Jenkinson’s Aquarium

 In Ocean Academy

We are having a great Summer here at Ocean Academy’s ESY Program. This week we went on our annual trip to Jenkinson’s Aquarium in Point Pleasant Beach. The students and staff split up into two groups and were led on an awesome tour to see the animals and marine life. Among them where exhibits of exotic fish, coral reefs, seals, penguins, and many other animals from around the world. There was also a rainforest area with parrots and monkeys coupled with a pine barrens section with turtles, frogs, and owls. These exhibits gave the students the opportunity to get up close and personal with the animals and learn about their natural habitats, diets, and unique personalities.

A highlight of the group tour was the touch tank in which we got the chance to touch live animals such as starfish, horseshoe crab, and stingray.. After the tour was over, we walked along the boardwalk and down to the inlet to take in some beautiful views and watch the boats sail by. It was a great trip and we are looking forward to the next one as the Summer fun continues.

Did You Know: Jenkinson’s Aquarium opened in 1991 and is a proud member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA).

I really liked the aquarium because of the penguins. Also I liked the touch tank because we got to touch live things.

I really liked this trip. This was one of my favorites trips because I got to see the different kind of animals and different insects that I have never seen before. My favorite part was looking at the different kind of tricks we saw upstairs. Also my favorite animal I saw was the penguins because I love penguins and sea animals and I love the different things they do.

I loved this one a bit too much. If I had it my way I would buy and penguin and snuggle with it. 😀 But it was still fun even if I could not snuggle a penguin.

I had a good time on that day. I specifically love the part where we got to touch a horse shoe crab. The penguins were also cute but fun to play with, even through a glass window. I’ll make sure to bring a whole bunch of bracelets, the next time I go to visit. Learned great facts about each animal while I was there. Sounds like a great place to work. But, if you are scared to get bitten or pecked, I suggest you stay behind the glass and enjoy the sight seeing.
