Foster Care Services
“A hundred years from now it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove . . . But the world may be different because I was important in the life of a child.”

A Therapeutic Treatment Home Program
Connections is a therapeutic treatment home program for children between the ages of 7-17. Children who are placed in Connections treatment homes can reside there anywhere between 30 days to sometimes over one year, depending on their circumstances. As a therapeutic treatment home family, your job would be to offer these children the guidance and support they need as well as provide them with a stable environment in which they can work on their treatment goals.
Connections provides each child a clinician who provides support for the treatment home family and therapeutic services to the child as they learn to overcome their emotional or behavioral difficulties. The clinician works with the child in the home to prepare them for their discharge goals which may be anything from reunification with their family to preparation for an adoptive home. Connections staff is available 24/7 to support treatment home parents. We also provide a full range of trainings to ensure your success as a treatment home parent. We make a generous stipend available to treatment home families to assist with ongoing costs, such as food, clothing, housing, and recreation.
If you are interested in hearing more about becoming a therapeutic treatment home family, please call us today to schedule an interview and discuss the program and licensing process. You can reach Connections at (732) 349-3535, extension 702 to schedule your appointment or request additional information.
Connections Treatment Home Program
This is a unique blending of two existing programmatic formats: Therapeutic foster care and intensive home-based services. The target population is that grouping of children ages 7 to 17 who are potentially at risk of abuse, neglect, or psychiatric residential placement. The Connections program is also utilized as a step-down measure following residential placement. Each treatment care home is licensed according to the DCPP Children’s Group Home Manual.
At OceanMHS we rely on support for members of our community to continue providing services to children, youth, adults and families. Support our Foundation, OceanCares, with a donation today.
Connections Transitional Care Program
All perspective clients of the Connections Transitional Care Program are referred directly from the DCPP Central Regional Offices. This program is an alternative to traditional shelter care. The Connections Transitional Care Program provides safe and secure housing for children/adolescents in a non-physically restrictive environment for a period of time not usually exceeding 30 days. Families in the community share their homes with youngsters. The Connections staff and families work together to alleviate stressors, facilitate transitional living, and secure community resources.
