Scott Corbett, Principal mail-128

Scott Corbett takes an innovative educational approach to learning by fostering collaboration between students, staff, and community.  He encourages outside the box thinking, developing active and creative minds and promotes a high-performance atmosphere to achieve personal best and optimal performance in both students and staff.

Mr. Corbett holds a BA in special education and a MA in school administration from Georgian Court University.  He has been a certified school administrator since 2003.  He is a member of the Toms River Health & Support Collation and the Basie Collective Impact Initiative. He is also a 2015 Impact Toms River Awardee.   Mr. Corbett has partnered with Kula-Kamala foundation, Ocean County Artists Guild, The Jay and Linda Grunin Foundation, The Geraldine R Dodge Foundation and colleges.  Mr. Corbett firmly believes these partnerships will bring Ocean Academy to the forefront of special education.

The personal mantra Mr. Corbett lives by is, “Health, Happiness and Independence.”  He thrives on an active personal life that begins and ends with family.  You can find the Corbetts’ on the slopes, sailing the Toms River and bowing in at the dojo on any given day of the week.

Meet The Team

  • William Kaskow
    William Kaskow Supervisor of Curriculum & Instruction

    Mr. William Kaskow  has been working with students, staff, and parents at Ocean Academy since 1999.  Mr. K was a Director of Student Personnel Services for both Lacey Twp Schools and Central Regional Schools for 26 years.  During those years he was responsible for developing programs and services, as well as establishing linkages with agencies to support children and parents of children with special needs.

  • Judy Woodward
    Judy Woodward Administrative Assistant

    Ms. Judy Woodward has been an Administrative Assistant at Ocean Academy since November 2001.  She handles the day to day communications with the school districts as well as whatever else needs to be done.  She enjoys being around the children and helps out where and whenever needed.  If you should have any questions, please feel free to give her a call.

  • Dr. Karen Senese
    Dr. Karen Senese School Psychiatrist

    Dr. Senese is a 1992 graduate of St. George’s University Medical School.  She completed her training at Robert Wood Johnson, UMDNJ.  She has been the Ocean Academy Psychiatrist since 2002, servicing our students on a weekly basis and is on call when we need her.  Dr. Senese is a valuable asset to our staff and  maintains a private practice in Toms River.

  • Marie Cooper
    Marie Cooper Math Teacher

    Mrs. Marie Cooper  earned a BS in mathematics from Loyola College.  She is certified to teach math through 12th grade and is a teacher of students with disabilities.   Prior to working at Ocean Academy, she spent 12 years in the IT industry before attending Georgian Court University to become a teacher.  Mrs. Cooper has taught math for the past 6 years and  loves teaching math.

  • Eileen Catalano
    Eileen Catalano English/Social Studies Teacher

    Ms. Eileen Catalano earned her Bachelor of Science in Education from Seton Hall University and is certified K-12 in English and Social Studies and a provisional certificate for Teacher of Students with Disabilities.  She served on committees for curriculum planning, Anti-Bullying, New Teacher Mentoring, and School Social Skills. She works with students to reach their full potential, academically and socially.

  • Alicia Gauthier
    Alicia Gauthier Instructional Paraprofessional/Substitute Teacher

    Mrs. Alicia Gauthier graduated from William Paterson University with a Bachelors in Psychology.  Alicia is currently pursuing her master’s in clinical mental health counseling. Currently, she is a certified substitute teacher. Prior to Ocean Academy, Alicia worked in another special education school in NJ. In addition to this, Alicia was a private tutor for special needs children.

  • Kathleen Caffee
    Kathleen Caffee Science Teacher

    Ms. Kathleen Caffee is a graduate of Bloomsburg University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Earth Science – Environmental Science.  She has held various positions ranging from Coastal Ecology Pre-College Instructor to Park Ranger before becoming a teacher in New Jersey.  She has worked both in Public and Charter Schools.  Ms. Caffee is excited to join the Ocean Academy team and share her passion in the sciences.

  • Cynthia Espinosa
    Cynthia Espinosa Instructional Paraprofessional/Substitute Teacher

    Miss. Cynthia Espinosa graduated from The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey in 2011 with a B.A. in Psychology. Prior to starting Ocean Academy, Cynthia has worked at the Arc of Ocean County working with young adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Cynthia is a certified substitute teacher for the districts of Manchester  and Jackson Township. She is also currently a graduate student at Georgian Court University pursuing a Masters in Applied Behavioral Analysis.

  • Lynn Newman
    Lynn Newman Supervisor of Clinical Services/School Social Worker

    Mrs. Lynn Newman is a licensed clinical social worker having earned her Master’s Degree of Social Work from Rutgers University.  Her undergraduate degree is in elementary and early childhood education.  She is a certified teacher and school social worker.  She coordinates the clinical staff, supervises our interns and assists where needed.

  • David Berman
    David Berman Elementary/Middle School Teacher

    Mr. Dave Berman has been a teacher at Ocean Academy since 2001.  Mr. Berman graduated from Monmouth University with a degree in Business Administration. After working in business for a few years he realized he wanted to teach children.  He returned to school and became a teacher of special needs students. He is highly qualified and certified to teach K-8 special education students.

  • Donna Damm
    Donna Damm English/Social Studies/Art Teacher

    Mrs. Donna Damm earned her Bachelor of Arts from Jersey City University and is certified as a Teacher of the Handicapped (K-12) and is highly qualified to teach all her assignments.  Mrs. Damm taught in public school prior to coming to a Ocean Academy in 2001. Presently she teaches high school English, History and Art.

  • Jessica LaRosa
    Jessica LaRosa Business/Computer Teacher

    Ms. Jessica LaRosa is a graduate of Monmouth University (B.S. in Business Administration). Ms. LaRosa held positions in the private sector in human resources. Ms. LaRosa returned to Rider University and completed the Graduate Level Teacher Certification Program. Ms. LaRosa is certified as an Elementary School Teacher and a Teacher of Business.

  • Judy Crosta
    Judy Crosta Instructional Paraprofessional/Substitute Teacher

    Mrs. Judy Crosta has worked as an instructional aide and certified substitute teacher for Ocean Academy since 2004. Prior to this, she worked as a substitute teacher for Toms River Regional Schools and Ocean County Vocational Schools and as a substitute residential counselor for Ocean Mental Health.  She attended Union County College and Kean University.

  • Robert Micheliche
    Robert Micheliche Instructional Paraprofessional/Substitute Teacher

    Mr. Robert Micheliche graduated from The College of New Jersey with a B.S degree in Health and Exercise Science as well as a Certificate of Eligibility in teaching students with learning disabilities. He teaches our Health and Physical Education program as well as our Drivers Education course. Mr. Mitch brings patience, optimism and a desire to create an environment for growth and learning.

  • Marianne Nunn
    Marianne Nunn Bus Driver/Instructional Paraprofessional

    Mrs. Marianne Nunn has been working at Ocean Academy since June 2004.  She is the school Bus Driver, Para-Professional and also works in the cafeteria.  She is also employed at night with the Bayside program as a driver; which is affiliated with Ocean Mental Health; she has been there for 7 years.  She enjoys both of her jobs and really loves helping the children of the programs .

  • Charla Cole
    Charla Cole Instructional Paraprofessional/Substitute Teacher

    Mrs. Charla Cole has been an Instructional Paraprofessional at Ocean Academy since 2000. She graduated from Ocean County College in 2000 with an A.A. degree in Liberal Arts. Mrs. Cole is also a Certified Substitute Teacher through Ocean and Monmouth county school districts. She has recently returned to school to pursue her Bachelors of Science in Health Care Administration at Drexel University.

  • Teresa Salisbury
    Teresa Salisbury Educational Interpreter-Sign Language Interpreting

    Mrs. Teresa Salisbury earned her Bachelor’s in Psychology from Kean University in 1993 and a Certificate in Interpreting from Union County College in 2002.  She has worked in the interpreting field for 9 years at Ocean County College and Jackson School District. Teresa began working at OA in 2012 as a sign language interpreter and currently works as a one on one paraprofessional.

  • Kathleen Malley
    Kathleen Malley Instructional Paraprofessional

    Mrs. Kathleen Malley earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey. She also attended the Graduate Program at Georgian Court University where she received her teaching certification in K-5 and Special Education. She has had long term positions teaching 3rd and 5th grade in the Berkeley Township Schools.

  • Thomas Goldberg
    Thomas Goldberg Instructional Paraprofessional/Substitute Teacher

    Mr. Thomas Goldberg earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Secondary Education from Wilkes University in Pennsylvania in 2012.  He has also obtained a Certificate of Eligibility to teach Social Studies at the Secondary level.  During the course of his collegiate career, he worked with students through programs such as CEO Kid’s Café and Big Brothers and Big Sisters of the Bridge.

  • Kelly Walsh
    Kelly Walsh Board Certified Behavior Analyst

    Mrs. Kelly Walsh earned her Master’s Degree in Applied Behavior Analysis from Georgian Court University. Her undergraduate degree is in Psychology from Stockton University. Prior to working at Ocean Academy Mrs. Walsh worked with developmentally disabled individuals providing ABA therapy.

  • Robert Austin
    Robert Austin Licensed Clinical Social Worker

    Mr. Robert Austin  is a licensed clinical social worker who earned his Masters Degree from Monmouth University – he is a certified school social worker and a dedicated professional who has been working with children and adolescents for many years assisting them in making better decisions and improving their lives.

  • Shetina Barnes
    Shetina Barnes M.Ed, SAC, School Social Worker

    Mrs. Shetina Barnes holds a Master of Education degree from Georgian Court University, and a Bachelor of Science degree from Drexel University.  She is a certified School Social Worker, Supervisor and Substance Awareness Coordinator.  Mrs. Barnes oversees state testing at Ocean Academy, in addition to providing counseling, case management and social skills training to students.

  • Robert Scheiderman
    Robert Scheiderman Instructional Paraprofessional

    Mr. Robert Scheiderman has substituted since 2003, working for the OC Vocational-Technical Schools (OCVTS) and TR Regional Schools. He graduated from Ocean County College, and Kean University.  In 2010 he earned a Bachelor’s degree from the New School University in New York and most recently completed the Master of Letters degree (M.Litt) at Drew University, Madison, NJ. He is currently in the Doctor of Letters program at Drew.

  • Alyssa Saunders
    Alyssa Saunders Instructional Paraprofessional

    Ms. Alyssa Saunders earned her Bachelor’s in Social Work from The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey in 2014. She earned her Masters of Social Work with a concentration in children and families from  Monmouth University in 2015. She has also received her school social worker certificate.


  • Heather Lacher
    Heather Lacher Instructional Paraprofessional

    Mrs. Heather Lacher graduated from Kean University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Elementary Education.  During the course of her collegiate career, she worked as a substitute teacher for Brick Township School.  Prior to Ocean Academy, Heather has worked as an Instructional Assistant in the Special Education Department at Freehold Township High School.


  • Alex Iachetta
    Alex Iachetta Physical Education/Health/Drivers Education Teacher, Instructional Paraprofessional

    Mr. Alex Iachetta graduated from Montclair State University with a bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education.  While in college was a member of the football team, and is now coaching high school football.  “I really enjoy helping students reach their goals, and grow as healthy individuals.”

  • Margaret Beecher
    Margaret Beecher School Nurse

    Mrs. Margaret Beecher is a certified school nurse in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. She graduated from Holy Family College now University in Philadelphia, having earned her B.S.N.  She went on and received her master’s degree in Health Education from St. Joseph’s University, also in Philadelphia.  She has been working in the school nursing profession for thirty years. She has worked in Philadelphia and New Jersey schools and the Juvenile Justice Commission. She currently works part time with Bayada Pediatrics home care.

  • Megan McQueen
    Megan McQueen Instructional Paraprofessional

    Megan McQueen earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Special Education from New Jersey City University and is a certified Teacher of the Handicapped (PK-12).  Prior to working at Ocean Academy, she spent the past 10 years teaching a self-contained autism classroom in both public and private school settings.  Megan also provides in-home ABA therapy throughout the state and has recently completed her Masters Degree in Applied Behavior Analysis from Arizona State University.

  • Diane Chabak
    Diane Chabak Speech Therapist

    Mrs. Diane Chabak earned her masters degree in speech-language pathology from Adelphi University.  Her undergraduate degree in in communications from Quinnipiac University.  Prior to working at Ocean Academy Diane has worked in early intervention, private clinics, and a variety of day habitation programs.  She currently works part time with the disabled preschool program for Lacey Township.

  • Vanessa Hausser
    Vanessa Hausser Occupational Therapist

    Vanessa Hausser is a licensed occupational therapist who earned her Master’s of Science Degree from Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia.  She has worked in a variety of practice settings, including inpatient and day rehab, home health and early intervention.  Since 2004, she has worked in the educational setting serving many local school districts, grades pre- k to 12 in the Ocean County area.  She currently holds part-time positions with Ocean Gate and Bay Head Elementary Schools.  She also serves on the Targeted Evaluation Team for the New Jersey Early Intervention System.
